Our Story

Founded by Mozhgan and Mark, Chromatic Earth Pottery is a welcoming space for makers of all levels in the heart of East Toronto.

Where It All Began

Who We Are

A creative sanctuary in Toronto’s East End

Tucked into the heart of East Toronto, Chromatic Earth Pottery is a space where creativity, community, and the quiet act of making something with your hands all come together.

CEP was founded by Mark Zenchuk and Mozhgan Abbasroohollahi, two people who believe deeply in the restorative power of craft. Mozhgan, an international ceramics instructor and exhibitor, brings warmth, expertise, and a genuinely soulful approach to teaching that students feel from their very first session.

We believe the best art comes from within. Our classes are designed to teach real skills while also creating space for something slower and more personal. Many students come in curious and leave feeling grounded in a way they did not expect.

The studio itself is more than a place to make pottery. It is a community. Whether you are joining us for a beginner class, a Couples Night, an open studio session, or a private workshop, you will find the same thing every time: warm people, good energy, and clay that does not judge.

We are glad you found us. Come in and make something.

Come see the studio for yourself!

No class required. Drop in during open studio hours and get a feel for the space, the people, and the energy. We think you will want to stay.

Meet the Founders

Mozhgan Abbasroohollahi

Co-Founder

Instructor

Mozhgan

is a ceramics instructor, exhibitor, and the creative heart of Chromatic Earth Pottery. With years of teaching and artistic practice spanning Iran, the Middle East, and now Toronto, she brings a depth of knowledge and a genuinely human approach to every class she leads.

For Mozhgan, the studio has never just been about pottery. It has always been about what happens between people when they are all doing something with their hands. Her vision for CEP is a space where strangers become regulars, where regulars become community, and where everyone who walks through the door feels like they belong there from the very first moment.

Operations

Mark

is the person behind the curtain at Chromatic Earth Pottery, and occasionally in front of it making everyone laugh. He handles the bookings, emails, the website, and every logistical detail that keeps the studio running smoothly. If you have ever received a reply from CEP that made you smile more than you expected, that was Mark.

What he does not advertise is that outside of CEP he is an artist in his own right, building striking sculptural structures from metal pipe. The person managing your pottery booking has a whole other creative life happening in the background.
